The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology in the Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Greenwich (based at the Medway campus in Kent) requires an experienced addition to the team of Engineers to support Enterprise, Research, Teaching and Development work in the specialist field of bulk solids handling. The successful applicant will augment a world renowned team of engineers providing research and consulting services to a broad range of industry sectors.
Activities will include laboratory and analytical work relating to design and troubleshooting of industrial solids handling systems. Engagement with various research focussed projects will also be required along with teaching responsibilities to undergraduate students in the School of Engineering and to engineers in industry through short courses.
The successful applicants’ grade will be assessed according to experience and expertise in relation to the criteria set on the person specification.
A PhD qualification in some aspect of mechanical or chemical engineering is preferred, together with familiarity of general engineering principles applied in industry. However, a lack of PhD qualification need not discount if a candidate has proven extensive industrial practical knowledge instead.
A track-record of hands-on skills in laboratory and/or practical engineering work is essential. The candidate will need to have well developed communication skills, both written and oral, and to be prepared to represent The Wolfson Centre to industry clients and research groups in a way that will impress.
Hours of work will be full time but with flexibility to make early starts and/or late finishes when travel or workload requires. This post is permanent.
Salary Scale: AC2 – AC3
The job grade will be assessed according to experience and expertise. Where experience is lacking, the opportunity to develop into these areas will be provided.
(AC2) £33,797 – £39,152 per annum
(AC3) £40,322 – £49,533 per annum
