First site visit of 2018: Tunstead Quarry, Buxton

MHEA members are invited to an exclusive visit of Tarmac’s Tunstead Quarry on Wednesday 9 May, with a guided tour by Quarry Manager Phillip Shimmell. Member News – Fairport solution diverts contaminated coal and pays for itself within 18 months

Staff at Fairport Engineering are celebrating following the successful implementation of a project to help ABP improve their coal offloading reliability at their Humber International Terminal in Immingham. With each stoppage of a Panamax dry bulk carrier to remove metal contaminant taking several hours of delay, ABP wanted to install an automated solution to increase productivity using a continuous offloading process. MHEA members support Drax biomass conversion project

Ian Birkinshaw, operations director at Portasilo Bulk Handling Systems, delivered a presentation to delegates at the Bulk2014 conference about a pioneering biomass conversion project at Drax. Drax is transforming itself into a predominantly biomass-fuelled generator through burning sustainable biomass in place of coal. It plans to convert three of its six generating units to burn biomass. The first unit was converted in April 2013.
