Heidelberg Materials – Ribblesdale Site Visit, 4th June 2024

On Tuesday 4th June 2024, MHEA Members had the fantastic opportunity to visit Heidelberg Materials at Ribblesdale, Lancashire.

The visit began with an informative presentation delivered by Heidelberg’s Operations Manager, Mark Yates who detailed the operations of the Ribblesdale plant, from mining materials from the quarry to packing and palletising the finished product for road or rail transportation.

Representatives from 15 Member companies then embarked on a comprehensive tour of the plant with Mark and his Assistant Operations Manager, Andrew Blockeel, where every question was answered with great expertise.

Situated in the beautiful Ribble Valley, the Ribblesdale cement works was established in 1936 as a joint venture between Tunnel Cement and Ketton Portland Cement. This plant is a significant industrial site, producing cement for many years and playing a crucial role in supplying cement for construction projects in the region and beyond.
