Vortex is pleased to announce the acquisition of Kasa Fab, a leading custom metal fabrication and manufacturing company. More than 25 MHEA members were recently provided with an insight into one of the most successful and instantly recognisable British brands ever, with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of JCB’s global headquarters and production facility in Uttoxeter. After an introduction on the JCB story and opening remarks from JCB chairman, Lord Bamford, visitors saw some of the earliest JCB machines before a fascinating visit to their high-tech production facility equipped with an army of workers and automated robots. MHEA members support Drax biomass conversion project

Ian Birkinshaw, operations director at Portasilo Bulk Handling Systems, delivered a presentation to delegates at the Bulk2014 conference about a pioneering biomass conversion project at Drax. Drax is transforming itself into a predominantly biomass-fuelled generator through burning sustainable biomass in place of coal. It plans to convert three of its six generating units to burn biomass. The first unit was converted in April 2013.
